About Us
NOT FOR PROFIT, NOT FOR CHARITY BUT FOR SERVICE
Where did the time go?
It has half a century decades since the first Board of Directors met to form Lismore & Cappoquin Credit Union Ltd. The credit union was initially called Lismore Credit Union Ltd. and was subsequently changed to include Cappoquin the following year.
The Board of Directors who met on 19th February 1971 in the first branch office in East Main Street, Lismore, consisted of Tom Doocey (chairperson); Kieran Fenton (Vice Chairperson); Dermot O’Leary (Secretary); Rose Campion (Assistant Secretary);

John Ryan (Treasurer); Patrick Lawton (Assistant Treasurer); Frank Geoghegan, Thomas Whelan, and Fr. Keating C.C. Supervisor Committee consisted of Patrick Vaughan, Anthony Bolger and Patricia Bransfield.
It was decided that the opening date, after meetings with the Field Officer from the Irish League of Credit Unions, be the 5th of March 1971.
There is little doubt that times have changed over the last 50 years but what is wonderful to see is that Lismore & Cappoquin Credit Union has changed with them and this is shown year after year. From East Main Street to Main Street via Chapel Street in Lismore, and from the Library to Main Street, via Barrack Street in Cappoquin, both offices have improved and expanded to meet the needs of our members. Improved services, upgraded IT systems, continuous training, friendly and knowledgeable staff are just some of the benefits of being a member of YOUR credit union – Lismore & Cappoquin Credit Union Ltd.
It is very fitting that on the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of Lismore & Cappoquin Credit Union we launch our new website and online services to further show our commitment to the changing needs of our members whilst also maintaining our personal contact as we have always done.
Lismore & Cappoquin Credit Union will continue to make prudent and responsible decisions on behalf of its members. Our key objective is to ensure its strength and improve all our services for all of our members. Continuing education of both board members and staff contributes to this objective. We are confident that with your continued support, we will improve and continue to develop further our range of services for you, the member.

We look at things differently!
Great credit must go to foresight of our founding members and to the present Board of Directors, Board Oversight Committee, Volunteers, Management and Staff.
